Factory explosion in northern China kills ten people

(MENAFN) The death toll from a factory explosion in northern China’s Inner Mongolia region has risen to 10, after authorities confirmed that all previously missing workers were found dead, as stated by reports on Wednesday.

The blast occurred Sunday at Baogang United Steel’s plate plant in Baotou City, involving a 650-cubic-meter spherical tank filled with saturated water and steam. The explosion also injured 84 people, all of whom are reported to be in stable condition.

Rescue efforts involved over 1,000 personnel from various government agencies, who conducted extensive searches. Authorities have launched a city-wide safety inspection to identify potential workplace hazards and have taken legal action against company officials deemed responsible.

Investigations into the cause of the explosion and post-incident management continue.
